Residing In:    Montgomery Village, MD USA

Spouse/Partner:    (deceased)

Occupation:    Admin. Asst./Professional Musician

Birthday:    February 9, 1961

Did you have any nicknames in school?    Chris

Comments:    Graduated in 84 from Emory & Henry in Math (minors in Art and English) and started grad degree in Voice Performance 86-89 at Catholic U in DC. I sag 13 seasons with Summer Opera Theatre Co. and have sung professionally at various chruches and synagogs in the DC area since 84. Currently singing at St. Matthew's Cathedral (the Catholic one) in DC and have a desk (read "day") job at Catholic U. I'm not Catholic - just play one on TV.

Lived with my first partner, Lee, 87-93 when he died of cancer. Grew my beard in the fall of 93, joined beardom, and met my second partner, Billy, at an event called Bearfest in the spring of 94 where we were competing as "cubs". I moved in with Billy and joined his motorcycle club in 95 and am still an active member of Centaur MC (www.centaurmc.org). He rode a Harley and I rode bitch (not quite Road Warrior - but kinda). Billy died in Jan 2005 from heart failure.

Though it might sound like I'm preoccupied with their losses, I'm not the neurotic widower. I'm lucky and happy to have found love twice, been accepted into their families and they in mine, and still to be involved with Billy's family years after his death. Nice to know there are parents out there who are not hateful bigots.

For those who remember the polyhedron models, I kept designing them for a number of years. I more recent years I've blended the geometry and art interests into quilting. It's not a constant hobby, but have made a couple dozen. I generally eschew traditional patterns and generate designs in non-square (usually) tesselations of the plane. I don't have a comprehensive catalog but glad to share some pics with those interested.

Currently living in Gaithersburg area in MD in the condo Billy and I lived in. Needs a lot of fixing up before I sell it (when the market improves a bit). I'm generally busy, but it would be nice to reconnect with some old friends from home.

How often do you get back to Alexandria?

I live in the MD suburbs now, so I don't get there often, but could easily.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?    Unfortunately, I can't think of one I'm regularly in touch with.

What would we be surprised to know about you?    My involvement with the leather and bear communities.

What are your memories of high school (i.e. secret crush, embarrassing moment, funniest thing you did in high school, favorite high school hang out, favorite teachers)?

  Ahhh...

I remember the multiple listing "For Sale" display in front of the school.

My favorite Anarchy Club project was the removal of all of the bells. Those weeks of quiet and the alarm clock held up to the PA system were priceless.

I fondly remember Madrigal outings, Chinese fire drills in our costumes, and drowning out the Woodlawn candlelit tour harpist with our laughter.

I remember toga parties and the liquid lunch plan.

...and I want to know how someone got Johnny Bacak's cat to pose for our reunion web page.

Biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at high school?    Actually study in Physics instead of playing 3D tic-tac-toe, hangman, and various manifestations of dots with Ted and Chris.

Do you give your permission to the Reunion Committee to download photos from your profile for use in reunion slideshows and/or photo collages?    Yes

Hey Chris, so glad you found us. Great post! You reminded me of some funny things I'd forgotten about :)

So, do you ever run into Leslie Umphrey? Jack says she is also singing opera professionally...

And yes, please post pictures!

Hi Chris,
I have been remembering our old MYF meetings at Mount Vernon UMC and the musical productions we did with Pam Bowden, Elizabeth Kiss, Steve Bell, and Danny Berrios. Do you ever think back to those days long gone? My brother, Wesley, turned 50 on Friday. I had forgotten that your birthdays were so close. I hope you had a wonderful day! Are you buried under lots of snow? My Dad went to stay at Wesley's house near Springfield Mall so he would not be alone through the snow.
How is your sister, Anne? Are your parents still living? How do you cope with having lost two partners? I had a hard time when my son died but I can not imagine losing my husband. I hope the Lord fills you with his grace to carry you through.
I would love to hear from you sometime. Just wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten you. Happy Birthday.
Gayle
