"Not Secure"... Certificate Warning?

Is our class website still safe? Rest assured. It sounds alarming, but nothing has changed on our end.

I inquired with our host, ClassCreator, and they offered this response regarding the warning and our site's security:

"Google has updated their browser (and subsequently, major browsers have followed), to alert users whenever they are on any page of any site that is not secured by a security certificate. Your site is currently secured on all pages that were previously necessary such as cart check out pages of the Event Planner as well as your Login pages. Rest assured that your site is safe and secure. However, we are still looking into a solution for admins to acquire a security certificate for their sites so that all pages reflect a secure status. We are working with our team to solve the logistics of this task. We will inform all of our administrators as soon as we have a solution that will work for our unique site scenario."

"Trusted sites" are established through a document verification process and certification, similar to notarization, proving the host servers "ownership" and works in tandem with HTTPS.

In short, HTTPS aims to do three things:

  1. Prove that the website your browser is talking to is who they say they are. (Authentication)
  2. Keep the conversation between your browser and the website private from third parties. (Privacy/Confidentiality)
  3. Ensure that what your browser sends to the website arrives without being altered. (Integrity)

This security warning is related mainly to the first point which is of particular concern while you are transmitting personal or financial information, such as making a purchase, or updating your profile, contact info, email address, or password.  In all of these instances, ClassCreator maintains a valid certificate of authenticity, issued by a trusted Certificate Authority (such as VeriSign or RapidSSL, for example).

The trusted LOCK icon will be visible on pages containing secure data exchange forms.

Points 3 and 4 are specific to SSL (secure socket layer) when transmitting information over HTTP (web pages) and may function even when a trusted certificate is not in place. SSL technology establishes HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) which encrypts the data exchanged between your computer and the site your are visitng so that no other may intercept and read the exchange while it passes through the internet. SSL and a valid certificate, together, work to ensure your private data is both ecrypted and being exchanged with a known, verified entity.

Welcome to your official class website!

This website is dedicated to our classmates for the purpose of reconnecting and sharing news, pictures, and announcements  - particularly regarding plans to get together!

So, have a look around this site, update your contact information, check out your classmates' profiles and pictures, drop a line in the Federal Forums, and peruse the fun facts & music from the good ol' days!

1979 was a great class at FHHS!
Many wonderful friendships began there ...
Let's get together to celebrate those friendships
and to forge new ones!

"Build it and they will come"

Amazing! We began building this website during the week of Thanksgiving 2008 and today over three hundred and fifty of our classmates have registered.  Many of us log into this site regularly! With your help to keep spreading the word, we will continue to see new classmates checking in! Let's keep it rolling...  GO FEDERALS! Do you know how to contact any of our unregistered classmates?

There are many great features found on this website!  Message forums, integrated photo galleries, and best of all, classmates' profiles and their stories and photos!  So, enjoy!  If you have any pictures to share, please upload them directly

Refer A Friend Program

We, the class of 79, know for a fact that having an interactive class website can make the difference in a great reunion! Classes 80 and 81 are also discovering this for themselves. No web design expertise is required either!

Whether you are part of a college or high school alumni association, or a large family planning a reunion, or even a neighborhood that celebrates regular block parties, a Class Creator website can magnify the amount of fun ten-fold!  Creating a sophisticated web site and planning a reunion is simple.  Anybody can do it!  http://www.classcreator.com/index.cfm?M=M1034874

Class Creator is the most intuitive class website maker and reunion planner on the web.  The ease with which a site can be created makes it virtually idiot proof, and the level that a site can be taken to has no limit.  Your site can be up and running in under half an hour!

Although Class Creator is designed primarily for high school classes, it easily converts to the needs of extended families, church groups, neighborhoods and any organization that wishes to have a central place for staying in touch and planning events.  If you know anyone that could use the service please forward this link to them!  http://www.classcreator.com/index.cfm?M=M1034874

Need a multi-year site?  They handle that too!  See ours at http://www.fhhs-alum.org

NOTE:  Each successful referral from our class site earns us a $50 bonus.  Those bonuses go directly toward supporting our class reunion activities, website, and events!
